How To Start Your Day

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you skip breakfast, your body slows down your metabolism in an attempt to preserve what fuel reserves it contains. Breakfast breaks the fast initiated by sleep and increases your metabolism dramatically.

By skipping breakfast, you are sending the wrong signal to your body and actually conserving energy. By conserving energy, you are preserving your weight.

By taking breakfast, much of the evidence points to improvements in learning and memory, weight control, cholesterol profile and healthy eating habits throughout the day.

The first thing to do upon rising is to consume one, preferably two glasses of water. This rehydrates the body and helps to flush the kidneys. If you are seeking a hot drink, try either a green tea or just hot water with lemon juice in it. Both are good for the liver and prepare the digestive system for food.
