SK-II, being a leading brand in the cosmetic and skin care range was removed from the shelves in Beijing and Hong Kong after it was found to contain banned heavy metals in the products.
According to the news, the General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine, the quality authorities in South China’s Guangdong province detected chromium and neodymium, heavy metals that are forbidden ingredients of cosmetics in China in SK- II products.
Chromium could cause skin diseases such as allergic dermatitis and eczema while neodymium can cause irritation of the eyes and mucosa.
The scenario is always like the company denied, saying that it was being tested before release to the market, the question is why would the banned substance only be detected now? after selling in the market as hot cakes for so long?
As a consumer or SK-II product user, what is your response to it? Will you continue to use or chuck your few hundreds ringgits cosmetic products away?
