Islamic clerics have banned Malaysian Muslims from undergoing Botox treatment for cosmetic purposes because the compound contains prohibited and harmful substances, a news report said.
What is the alternative then? I have long heard of people using vitamin C injection to smoothen out wrinkles. We only know taking vitamin C can boost our immunity and fight against cold and flu symptoms. Can vitamin C injection have the same effect of botox?
I found this product on the net. It is called Laroscorbine vitamin C which is produced by Roche. It is originally imported from France and it contains 6 ampoules of 1g/5ml in each box.
The benefits claimed by this product are:-
- Helps in the production of collagen
- Suppresses formation of “melanin” which causes darkspot formation after long exposure to sunlight
- Reduces facial and skin fine lines or wrinkles
- Improves skin smooth texture
The ampoule or injection is to be done every week for 2 months. Then the dosage can be reduced to 1 injection every 2 weeks.
I personally doubt the use of injectable vitamin C. As far as I know, vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, the unabsorbed vitamin will be excreted in urine. Furthermore, high content of vitamin C in the body can cause diarhhoea and gastric pains.
Therefore, does vitamin C injection really help in reducing or even removing wrinkles? To what extend? I guess only those who have tried can let us know the answer.
